Scholarships

There is a major shortage of nurses and doctors in Haiti, so OSMM works to provide scholarships for qualified students who are interested in entering the medical field.

We are currently sponsoring a third year med student, Caleb Joseph and a second-year nursing student, Diane Cassanova Joseph.

And with your help OSMM sponsored Frantzy Dieudonne through his last three years of med school. He is now a certified pediatrician and remains a partner of OSMM.

Community health training for those interested in healthcare but who don't qualify for formal schooling is taught by a Community Health Evangelism/CHE based organization, Ambassadeurs Medicaux d'Haiti. There are currently five communities actively involved in the program.

While not expensive by U.S. standards, the cost of medical training is far beyond the means of the average Haitian who makes $300-$500 USD a year.

Scholarships for Community Health Training will average $50-60 per person per course.  The cost of one year’s tuition at the Wesleyan Nursing School is about $3000. One year's cost for medical school in Haiti is around $8000 and plus living expenses of about $8,000.
